Stories with something to say.
Knappy Apps Publishing is an independent fiction publisher built around ambitious stories, distinct author voices, unconventional ideas, and books that are willing to cross genres when the story demands it.
Independent by design.
Knappy Apps Publishing exists to publish fiction that does not need permission to be unusual.
Our catalog moves across science fiction, satire, mystery and thriller, historical fiction, alternate history, romance, crime fiction, women’s fiction, Black fiction, metaphysical fiction, and books that sit comfortably in more than one category.
Some stories build civilizations. Some dismantle institutions. Some examine relationships. Some revisit history. Some are funny, uncomfortable, speculative, intimate, confrontational, or strange. What connects them is a commitment to voice, imagination, consequence, and ideas worth carrying beyond the final page.
The story comes first.
Genre helps readers find a book. It should not prevent a book from becoming what it needs to become.
Distinctive storytelling
We value books that sound like themselves rather than books engineered to resemble whatever happened to sell last season.
Stories worth discussing
Entertainment matters, but so do the questions underneath it: power, identity, history, technology, relationships, responsibility and the systems people create.
No single shelf
A publishing catalog can contain epic science fiction, romance, satire, institutional mysteries and historical fiction without pretending they all need the same voice.
A catalog built for readers who wander.
We publish standalone novels as well as continuing worlds, trilogies, sagas, mystery series, speculative universes, satirical projects, and character-driven stories.
The common denominator is not genre. It is a willingness to take the premise seriously, follow the consequences, and let the story become larger, stranger, darker, funnier, or more intimate when that is where it naturally leads.
Find the book that does not quite fit anywhere else.
Whether you came looking for a mystery, a romance, an empire, an uncomfortable satire, a different version of history, or a story you cannot easily classify, there is more to explore.
