Where Does A Soul Go?:
Eva’s After
Death is only the beginning of Eva’s becoming.
When Eva Mirelle dies, she awakens in the Greying—a placeless expanse where light has no source, sound has no memory, and souls drift through one another like unanchored thoughts.
Here, forgotten lives unravel into stardust. Dreams that were never lived survive as glowing orbs in an infinite Library. A remembered name can brighten a soul, while the absence of memory can make one disappear entirely.
Eva has no anchor. No shape. No reason she should remain. And yet, she wanders.
She crosses the Reverie Fields, where the dead relive their brightest memories until those memories begin to fade. She reaches the Echoing Shore, where whispers from the living world pass through like weather. She enters the Half-Realized City, built from abandoned ambitions, unfinished lives, and everything people meant to become but never did.
Along the way she meets Marrow, a wandering soul who forgets truths but remembers meanings; Lyre, who fades like a dissolving constellation; the Tide-Walker, who speaks in thresholds; and the Librarian, guardian of humanity’s unlived dreams.
In death, she becomes one.
Each soul Eva steadies, and each fading spark she keeps from disappearing into cosmic dust, draws her closer to the Source: an ancient horizon where souls dissolve back into nothing and everything.
There, Eva is offered release. Rest. Completion. A return to the infinite.
But death has taught her something life never did: a single presence, however quiet, can alter the path of another soul.
Standing at the edge of eternity, Eva finally makes a choice.
Where Does A Soul Go?: Eva’s After is a metaphysical odyssey of memory, identity, grief, presence, connection, and afterlife wonder—an exploration of what remains when the self begins to dissolve, and what can begin when it chooses not to.
